    Hello,

Hope you are doing great. I have very small query but I can not find any solution in new version. That’s why I am asking here my question. I have my own domain so how can i configure it with wordpress. I don’t want to do domain mapping.

Is it possible to setup my own already purchase domain in wordpress with out domain mapping. because for the domain mapping it asking for the payment. And I don’t want to do it.

Please reply me as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

If you want to actually use your already purchased domain with your WordPress.com site, you can do so only with domain mapping. Domain mapping currently costs US$13 a year (plus your annual domain name renewal).

You can set up your already purchased domain name to redirect people to your WordPress.com site by using domain forwarding or masking, but you have to do that at your domain registrar and it can lead to a world of problems if not set up correctly. It costs nothing beyond the annual domain name renewal. (You will need to contact your domain registrar directly for instructions on setting this up; we cannot help you here.)

If you want to use your domain name with a self-hosted WordPress site, you will have to hire third-party web hosting like bluehost, dreamhost, etc., install and configure the WordPress.org software and transfer all your content to that self-hosted blog. It will cost about $10 to $25 per month all included, but not including the annual renewal for your domain name. You will be responsible for maintaining your site, including all backups, upgrades and troubleshooting.

As far as I know, those are pretty much your choices if you want your domain name to appear in the address bar. Perhaps another forum volunteer can make other suggestions.

    Hi Justjennifer,

    Thanks for your reply.

What ever solution is given by you, I know very well but I have my own domain with my own Hosting. I am already trying to create a sub domain and I need to install my wordpress to this sub domain. But I can not create proper solution for it.

I appreciate you for your answer. Your answer is really helpful to those people who don’t aware with this process.

    Thanks Again.

    With Regards,

    The answer is “no”.

You can domain map your WordPress.com site to a subdomain of your domain, but the obvious disadvantage is that you do need the paid domain mapping upgrade.

Are you by any chance talking about a self-hosted WordPress install? What you just said there about installing wordpress to a subdomain begs the question.
