Domain deletion

  Hello! Started a site with my own domain, with a different registrar. Decided to not pay for the site now and cancelled the plan, along with the €18 domain hosting. Recived a message that my domain has been deleted and once processed will be hard to recover etc.‽

  Does this mean my domain will be deleted from the other registrar? I certainly hope not, and I would be surprised if that was possible from the WordPress side of things, but it reads like this is the case:

  ‘Our records show that you recently completed a request to delete your domain name simplifights.com associated with your WordPress.com account.

  This email is to confirm that your domain has been deleted. As a reminder, once a domain is deleted, you no longer own it and forfeit any remaining time left in the original registration term. Once the deletion is processed by the registry, it can become more costly, or in some cases, not possible, to recover the domain.’

  Hi Robbi, our records show you registered simplifights.com here, then cancelled it right away. I’m guessing the domain you already have elsewhere is different from that one?

  Also in the case of a new domain like that, it’ll usually be released within about 5 days for re-registration here or elsewhere. Not so much with older domains, but this one was new as of yesterday.
