Domain didn’t transfer; how can I obtain domain again

We thought we completed the necessary steps to transfer a domain. However, after being able to use the domain for a short time the website went dead and we were informed the transfer was not completed correctly. Now I am trying to find out how to repurchase the domain. I’ve read all of the Info I can find on WordPress in regards to domains. I am not sure if the domain has been auctioned off and purchased or if he can still be available. We are willing to pay the $80 plus fees if it’s been released but so far I haven’t been able to find out any additional information. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I can see that domain was unlocked for transfer in October last year, but there was never a request for a transfer code. You would have needed to also request a transfer code and submit that at your new provider to start the transfer, and there would have been several confirmation emails from both us and them sent out as part of the process, including once the transfer completed.
The domain has since expired and has been completely cancelled. In other words, it is already past the redemption period and it’s no longer possible for us to recover it. It also appears that after expiration someone else bought that domain, so it now has a new owner and your only option to use that domain again is if the new owner is willing to sell it back to you directly.
