Domain expiration

  • Unknown's avatar

My primary domain just expired the other day.

    I didn’t get a notice.

    I’d like to renew it.

Do I have to pay for the Premium plan? Or can I just renew the domain?

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

According to whois, your domain expired on 09-MAY-2015 and is in what’s called the redemption period. You can renew just the domain without the Premium plan. Note that there’s an additional fee ($80) imposed by the registrar: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

If you’d still like to get the domain back, we can tag this thread for a staff member to assist.

Since your domain name is in redemption, you will need staff help to renew the name registration, I have flagged this for the staff to help you

Thanks. I’d like staff help so I can get the domain back and also avoid missing the next expiration.

    You be welcome

You should have been sent several notices, but I have had the notices fail in the past for one of my sites, so it is best to also set some reminders on whatever you use for a calendar just in case

    Hi there,

The domain name kirkkjeldsen.com is owned by a different WordPress.com account, so only that user can renew it at this stage. (You can check the list of users on the site under Users > All Users in the site’s WP Admin dashboard, if you aren’t sure who owns it.)

That user can log in to their account and head to the My Upgrades page to renew that domain — the late renewal fee will be automatically added to the renewal price. If they have any questions, they can also contact us for more help with that domain.
