Domain expiration

  • Unknown's avatar

When I try to access my website, it says the page expired. But when I look on wordpress, it says the plan I have never expires. Any idea how to remedy this so I can get things back up and running?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi –

Can you please share the domain that you are trying to renew?

    https://uculr.wordpress.com/ is working.

Your free domain does not expire, this is a domain that ends with .wordpress.com.

If I just go to uculr.com, I get an expiration notification. Likewise, if I try to access the homepage from uculr.wordpress.com url.

  • Hi –

You can renew your domain from Manage Purchases page. https://wordpress.com/purchases

Please note, you need to be logged into the account that originally made the purchase. uculr.com expired on 2/19/16. If you do not find the option to renew please let me know.

Hi – I do not have a renew option; it says it never expires.

  • I see that you mapped a different custom domain: uchicagoulr.com than the one your previously had registered here.

Were you wanting to still register uculr.com as well? it’s been expired for over a month, but I can try to retrieve it from our registrar if you’re still interested in having it.

    Let me know. Thanks!

Yes, that would be great! Thanks!

  • Hi there,

I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore uculr.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.

I will let you know once I hear back from the registrar.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,
I checked and unfortunately, uculr.com is now in redemption
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order.
You can learn more about domain expiration here:

Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else.
A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one that we can waive.
The total price will be $106, which is $26 for the regular renewal, plus the $80 late renewal fee. Please reply back if you have submitted the payment so that we can begin the recovery process.
If we are unable to recover your domain, your payment will be refunded. If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee, you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price, once it has completely expired.
Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again, but if you prefer this option, just let us know and we’ll be happy to provide you further instructions.
Let me know if you still want to pay for the domain, and I will send you a manual payment and retrieve the domain from our registrar. Thanks!
