Domain Expiration

  Hello, Our domain – Islandgirlsinthecity.com expired on 17 October 2016. We would like to now renew this domain as we missed the renewal period and it has expired. Can you please advise how we can now re-register for the same domain and what steps we need to take.

  Hi there,

  Your domain appears to currently still be in redemption with the registrar, but given the date on which it expires it is very near the end of the redemption period.

  I can still try to get it back for you, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to this fee before I can start the recovery process.

  But given the advanced stage of expiration it might not be possible to get the domain back. If the redemption period ends before the domain can be recovered, it will be deleted at the registrar, and released again. If you’re lucky, this means you’ll be able to register it as a new domain at the regular price. If you’re not lucky, someone else can then buy it before you’re able to and you’ll lose it permanently.

  Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.

  Please let me know if you agree to the fee and want to attempt recovery, or if you’re going to wait to try and buy it again at the regular price.

  Okay, I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive payment I can contact our registrar. At the moment your domain still shows the redemption status, so hopefully we’re still in time to get it back.

  Should the recovery fail, your payment will be refunded in full.

  Thanks. I’ve emailed our registrar. I’ll let you know when I hear back from them. Given that it’s New Year’s weekend, that might not be until next week, so please be patient while waiting.
