domain expiration

  i cancelled my wordpress premium subscription last week (5/9/17) after not realizing that my plan had expired in february. the wordpress rep i was writing with advised me to wait 10 days until the domain name was cleared through the system and then get it through squarespace (where i had been transferring my domain name to for the last year or so). i am nervous that it will be swiped by another service. i see it is currently registered by wild west domains llc and wondering if i already missed my chance, or if that is somehow connected to wordpress…

  Hi k8culp,

  I see you chatted with another member of staff a few days ago. As they mentioned, your domain has expired and is currently in the redemption period. At this point you have two options:

  1. Try to recover the domain

  To recover the domain, you would need to pay an $80 redemption fee in additional to the regular domain renewal costs ($18). If we are able to recover the domain, it can be transferred to Squarespace.

  As otpidusprime mentioned, Wild West Domains is our domain provider :)

  2. Wait for the domain to be released.

  If you do not want to pay the fee you can wait until the domain is released. This is the riskier option out of the two. I’m afraid I can’t give you an exact timescale or the domain being released as it varies.
