Domain Expiration and Retrieval

Hi there,
a couple of months ago my domain expired. Unfortunately I wasn’t using the e-mail that the expiration notifications were being sent to and I couldn’t renew it before the grace period was over, and so when I went to renew it recently I didn’t see an option to. I checked the forums and articles and figured the best thing to do given my situation was contact you directly, so I was just wondering if it was still possible to renew my domain and what that process entails.

Hi there,
Because the domain expired so long ago it’s currently in a phase called Redemption. This is when the registrar is preparing to delete it and release it for registration again.
You can try to wait it out, but you should be aware that it can be several more weeks before the domain is released, and you’re not guaranteed that you’ll get it back as the registrar could potentially sell the domain at private auction, or someone else could just buy it before you do when it’s released.
The other option is that we try to get it back from the registrar for you, but there’s a $80 fee for this on top of the regular renewal cost. If you agree to this fee I can get the recovery process started for you. Should the renewal fail you’ll be refunded in full.

I’ve just sent you a link you can use to pay for recovery of the domain. I’ll be notified once you pay, and then I can contact the registrar to restore the domain.
