Domain Expiration Fallback

  I have a site at http://sempreviolinstudio.com/ which is hosted by wordpress.com. (The domain was registered through wordpress.com). The domain is expiring soon. If I cancel the domain (or let it expire) will http://sempreviolinstudio.wordpress.com/ still function?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  yes as long as the domain is canceled correctly – your content is safe and will not go away – HOWEVER – your site will start over with the search engines as a new site so your search engine traffic will go to zero for a while and you will loose your branding and such (wrong URL on the business cards etc.)

  I would keep the custom domain name since the registration & mapping is $18.-/yr
