Domain Expired
-
Hi there,
My Domain has expired and I no longer see the option of $26 / year for the domain available to me. How can I renew this domain? I am not interested in ‘WordPress Premium’ because I only use the domain, not the WordPress service. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hey michelledelateur,
the nameserver of your domain seems like deleted. I think you may contact the staff directly. If live chat can be accessed now please get support using that.
anyway i am leaving modlook here , some staffs may help you.. it will be fine

@michelledelateur – it appears that your domain is in the redemption period. I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance by adding the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of the forum thread sidebar; please be patient for their reply.
Meanwhile, please read this guideline which explains what happens when a domain expires: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
Please note that there will be an additional $80 fee which is imposed by the domain registrar to recover the domain. Staff will need your agreement to this fee before they are able to begin the recovery process.
-
Let me see if I got this right: The original cost of the domain was $26….and there’s an $80 fee?? Is that not a ludicrous amount considering the original cost of the domain?
-
Please read carefully the support document I linked to earlier.
Your domain expired. The $80 fee is imposed by the registrar (not WordPressdotcom). If you wish Staff to try and recover your domain during this time, you will need to agree to pay the additional fee.
The other option is to let the domain entirely expire, which I don’t recommend. Once it has been released, it could be purchased by someone else. Again, please read carefully the Support doc I linked to.
It’s up to you how you wish to proceed.
Bottom line:
You should never allow a domain to expire unless you are fully done with it and never want to use it again.

Hi there,
delateurmusic.com expired on 2016-11-24 and is currently in the redemption period.
There is more information about expired domains here:The good news is that you can still try to recover your domain as it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else at auction or sold on back-order. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular domain renewal cost of $18. I see you also had Private Registration last time you renewed, is this something you would still like to have?
and there’s an $80 fee?? Is that not a ludicrous amount considering the original cost of the domain?
I realise this raises the cost but it’s standard practice for domain registrars and not something we can waive.
If you agree to these costs I can generate a payment request for the amount. Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back. Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.
If you do not want to pay the fee, you can wait until the domain is released but you may not be able to get it back if it is purchased at auction during this time.
Acting quickly is important if you do want to try and recover the domain, so please let me know what you would like to do as soon as you can.
Come back to me if you have any questions.

Hi Gemma,
Got it – Well – I need that domain up and running so let’s recover it!
Please let me know how to proceed,

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for confirming. I’ve sent a payment request to the email address on your WordPress.com account. When that is paid, we can start the recovery process.
Let me know if you don’t receive it. Thank you!

Hi Michelle,
We have received your payment and started the recovery process. As soon as I have an update, I’ll reply to you here.

Thanks Michelle! I think we were both replying here at the same time — hopefully you saw my message to say I’ve started the recovery process :)
