domain expired

    Hi,
    My domain has expired (the renewal notices went to an old email I wasn’t checking anymore). I need help getting the website back up and going as the email that I do use is tied to the domain. Can you please help me. The domain is sciencetothepowerofart.com.

    If there is an additional fee to re-new that is fine. Please email me the link so I can pay and get the site back up and running.

    Hi there! I assume your site is hosted on WordPress.com?

    Depending on how long your domain has been expired, it is either in redemption (domains expired from a few weeks – few months) or actually expired (you need to re-register the domain again through the normal registration process – IF it is available)

    If it is in redemption, this means that the domain is deactivated, but has not yet been fully released. During this time, you can still renew this domain, but the process is more complicated than a regular renewal.

    If you’d like to renew your ownership of this domain, you have several options:

    1) Automattic can renew the domain for you through their registrar. (I believe this costs about $100)

    2) Try to register the domain through a domain back-ordering service, such as Pool (Registering starts at $60 with Pool) http://pool.com/

    3) Wait until the domain is out of redemption and becomes available for registration again. Then, you can register it again for the regular price of $17. This would run the risk of the domain being registered by someone else before you, or the domain not being released for registration at all. The exact redemption period and the release of the domain are at the discretion of our domain registrar and we can’t control it.

    Hi,
    Yes the site is registered through WordPress. Thank you for your help! I would prefer to just spend the extra money and renew through WordPress. I want to do this the easiest most reliable way possible.

    I’ve sent an email your way outlining the domain redemption process. After the renewal grace period passes the domains enter in to redemption.

    The email will be delivered to the address listed at wordpress.com/me/account/

    There will be a payment link included as well.

    Perfect. I’ve just sent a note to our domain partner about the request and I’ll post an update for you once I have more information. It should be in under 48 hours.

    I just performed a WHOIS search and the site is showing up as registered and doesn’t expire until the end of the year so it must have gone through.
