  Allowing a domain to expire
  When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

  If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

  Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

  This thread is already receiving Staff attention and they will return to it to assist you.

  If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

  If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

  @lotusmane thanks for paying that. I’ve contacted the registrar and asked them to return the domain. When that’s done we’ll add it back to your account.

  If we are unable to get the domain back (since it has been a week since we requested the payment and these things are very time sensitive) we will refund you.

  I’ll let you know whatever happens. It’ll be roughly one business day.
