Hi there, could you please clarify what the domain name is?

Hi there, that domain is past the 43 day redemption period and has been cancelled, but we can get it back for you. Our registrar will assess a $80 fee on top of the registration fees, making for a total of $98 without private registration, or $106 with private registration. That $80 fee is not something we are in control of, so we cannot waive that fee.

Let us know which way you want to go and confirm you are willing to pay the fee and we can send a payment request and once payment is received, we can then contact our registrar to get it back for you.

    Hello.

of course, please restore my website as it was. Send me the payment information asap!

  • Hi there,

I’m afraid you took too long to confirm, and the domain has since been completely removed from our system. It looks like our domain provider released that domain, and it was registered by someone else at Namecheap.com on 21 August.

At this point the only way to get that domain back is if the new owner is willing to sell it to you directly. You’ll need to contact Namecheap to find out if there’s any way of reaching them, as we have no information about whoever owns the domain now.

I’m not sure if that was sarcastic or not (sorry!), but just wanted to confirm, what happened was out of the control of WordPress.com. In that week period without response, the domain was registered by someone at Namecheap, and this is not the fault of the WordPress.com staff, who tried their best to resolve this issue. :)

Might if helped if you mentioned that i only had X days to respond.. So no, that was not sarcastic. There was only a few days between the posts as i was on holiday..

You’re right, we could have communicated the urgency a bit better there and losing your domain is never a fun situation to be in. Delivering the bad news that someone lost their domain is one of my least favorite parts of this job. While we try our best to prevent this from happening with both email, Admin, and site overlays sometimes this situation can’t be prevented.

Hopefully, you’ll be able to find a new domain to use for your site and do let us know if you have other questions.
