Domain Expired

  Hi there,

  My domain registration has expired and I would like to register it with wordpress. I seem to have it mapped but not registered.

  Hi there,

  It looks like barflybartending.com is already registered:
  http://who.is/whois/barflybartending.com

  If that’s you, you just need to update your nameservers to point to WordPress.com. If not, you will need to register a different domain and map it to WordPress.com instead.

  If it’s not you, I can cancel your existing domain mapping and give you a credit towards registering and mapping a different domain, so just let me know.

  That is definitely me. So how do I go about updating my nameservers and working this out?

  Hi there,

  You will need to log into your domain registrar Tucows to update your nameservers, and you will need to purchase domain mapping with us: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  After that, set your custom domain as your primary domain, give the domain information a few days to propagate across the internet, and you should be set.

  Hi, thanks!

  So…I was able to login and change my nameservers, but I’m not sure how to purchase only the domain registration when my domain is already mapped. I don’t see that as an option.

  Hi there,

  Ah, so you already had domain mapping. I just looked at your domains and it appears you have done everything correctly. Please allow up to 72 hours for domain records to propagate across the internet so the new domain appears for all users.

  Ok great. However, when I spoke to vistaprint they advised me to reach out to wordpress to “host” my domain so that it does not expire. How might I go about that?

  Hi again,

  We aren’t set up to receive domain registration transfers, but you can transfer your domain to a different registrar if you wish. Otherwise, your registrar should notify you a month or two prior to it expiring so you shouldn’t have to worry about that, and renewing is painless. :)
