domain expired!

The person who registered my domain no longer works with us. Our domain expired in December and I can’t find out how to even begin trying to get it back.
Please help if you can! Thank you.

Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. The blog’s owner can transfer ownership of the blog to another username account http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account and the upgrade can then be transferred too. However, Staff cannot just gift anyone with a blog that is registered by someone else because they own it.Provided you can contact the blog’s owner to transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B the blog’s owner you must log in under the username account A that owns the blog, add the other username account B as an Admin of the blog.

Then A can use this process to transfer the blog to that username account B instead http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
Lastly B can contact Staff to have any upgrades transferred to them. -
With regard to expired domains when anyone fails to renew prior to expiry the registrar they bought the domain name from owns the domain and can whatever they want with it. riverswayclinic.com. – seems to be registered with Network Solutions, you will need to renew the registration with them
Your Domain Mapping (and any other upgrades) will need to be renewed or repurchased with WordPress.COM

Thank you Timetheif and Auxclass. Those are both very helpful. I will try and contact the person who created the blog and get them to transfer it to me. Thanks for the quick responses!
