Domain expired and i want to renew
-
I doubt your account has been hacked.
My best estimate is that your domain name expired and someone else has registered it. Domain Mapping and Domain Registration are two different (but they are related) charges and need to be renewed separately.
The Staff can look at more information than I can and should be able to tell you what happened.

I haven’t heard anything from WP staff about the problem (but my domain email connected w/the expired domain isn’t working). Any suggestions? I see my domain got snagged by someone. I guess I don’t really care about the old domain because I was going to change my blog anyway, but does this mean my posts are lost forever?
Also, I’m not sure what my DNS name server format should be to get my email back… any advice?
Thanks in advance- d;) -
Your content should be safe and hidden under your original blog name – you should be able to set the Primary domain back to your base blog
Dashboard >> Store >> Domains >> change the Primary back to your blog.
then your friends should be able to see your content – your email however goes with the domain name so that is gone unless you can get the domain name back from the squatter.
If you ever hear back from the Staff you can also ask them to remove the Domain Mapping so your original URL will display.

If the email was NOT [something]@geekgirl415.com then it should still be safe, wherever you had the email. But if you did have it at that domain you previously owned, then the new owner of the domain can receive email addressed that way.
Yes, undo the domain mapping as auxclass suggests to re-open the original geekgirl415.wordpress.com blog. The posts should be there. Then maybe you could register geekgirl415.net and go with that. Or whatever suits your new blogging direction.

@sfsocial – it looks like your domain name renewal worked fine but something went wrong with the domain mapping – the staff will need to look at your account / blog to see what happened – I have flagged this also for staff attention.
The name servers are set correctly.

sfsocial, it looks like you might have renewed too late, so no subscription record was created.
I have refunded the renewal you paid. Please try adding the domain again via Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

Very kind of you macmanx. Silly question though; do I have to pay the $12 again to map it?

All done! I am really impressed by the friendliness and speed of support I have received! Many thanks to all of you, much appreciated.

Thank you all for the info provided after my last question. I already removed the email for my old domain. I’ll see if I can get it all back up and know that I can come here for the answers!!

Okay- I do have 2 more questions.
1 – GoDaddy and it’s affiliates have absconded with my domain http://www.geekgirl415.com
The fact that they do this to innocent bloggers irks me and now I want to get it back just for the point of it. But I’m not going to be extorted for it. Anyone ever win this battle?2 – My domain is switched back to the geekgirl415.wordpress domain, but I did renew my Geekgirl415.com thru WP when I first became aware of the issue. It’s weird because it still says “Expiring” but the expiration date is Jan 2014. So I guess I need a refund. Charges to my account are $25 and $7 to WP.
Thanks!

Hi my domain name expired in February. Not seeing anyone owns it. Can you help me renew it. http://www.goremissions.com. WordPress support is still disabled. Any help is appreciated.
-
geekgirl707, 1. Not many folks have won that battle, unless you own a registered trademark or copyright.
2. I sent a refund on that as requested.
melindagore, the domain goremissions.com expired on February 24 and is currently in redemption. This means that the domain is deactivated, but has not yet been fully released. During this time, you can still renew this domain, but the process is more complicated than a regular renewal.
If you’d like to renew your ownership of this domain, you have several options:
1) We can renew the domain for you through our registrar. This costs $97, which includes $17 for the domain and an additional cost of $80 for a late renewal. We have no control over this additional cost, as it is levied on us by our domain registrar.
2) Try to register the domain through a domain back-ordering service, such as Pool (Registering starts at $60 with Pool) http://pool.com/
3) Wait until the domain is out of redemption and becomes available for registration again. Then, you can register it again for the regular price of $17. This would run the risk of the domain being registered by someone else before you, or the domain not being released for registration at all. The exact redemption period and the release of the domain are at the discretion of our domain registrar and we can’t control it.
If you want to have the best chance of getting your domain back, your best bet would be the first option. If you choose this option, please reply to this email letting us know. We will then send you a request for payment via PayPal and will contact our registrar on your behalf, asking to restore the domain.
Please note that time is of the essence here. Because your domain is very close to being cancelled, it may no longer be possible to recover it. If you pay for renewal and we are unable to recover the domain, you will be fully refunded.

Hi. My domain also accidentally expired in February. It is twistandshouttheclown.com
It is mapped to twistandshouttheclown.wordpress.com
Can someone help me get it renewed to my wordpress blog?
Thanks very much! Mark

I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please read this very carefully > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-expired-and-i-want-to-renew/page/2?replies=37#post-864163 -
@timethief,
Thanks! I definitely do want to do option 1, the $97 option.“1) We can renew the domain for you through our registrar. This costs $97, which includes $17 for the domain and an additional cost of $80 for a late renewal. We have no control over this additional cost, as it is levied on us by our domain registrar…. If you choose this option, please reply to this email letting us know. We will then send you a request for payment via PayPal and will contact our registrar on your behalf, asking to restore the domain.”
It says I need to “reply to this email” — will an email be sent to me — or does this Forum post cover that?
Thanks again!! Mark

Mark, this is fine.
I have sent a request for $97 to the email address on your account. Please let us know as soon as you have sent payment.
