Domain Expired and Lost – Cannot Log In, Content Gone

  (I’m posting this from an alternate WordPress account because I can’t get into the one I am having trouble with.)

  I set up my WordPress blog to use my domain at babygotsauce.com. Unfortunately, my credit card with the registrar had expired, and the notification emails were sent to an account I don’t often check. So someone snagged my domain. And now my WordPress login won’t work. I’ve tried password recovery, but I don’t receive the emails. I suspect they’re going to whomever bought my domain. Can you please help? I have years worth of content on that blog, and I’d be heartbroken to lose it all. Happy to pay for support costs. Thanks!

  what is the base blog (whatever.wordpress.com??) – it does not look like your name (babygotsauce.com) was registered here or mapped – but I have flagged this for staff attention

  It looks like your Registrar is Godaddy – I would contact them as it looks like the name has not been released back to the wild yet

  it also looks like you might have had a WordPress.ORG install

  Contacting your old host and see if they have a backup file, also ask at WordPress.ORG, they might be able to help

  Hi there,

  What auxclass said was right — the domain babygotsauce.com was never registered at WordPress.com or used with a WordPress.com site, so the support staff here don’t have access to the site you had set up at that domain. When you use the self-hosted version of WordPress (from WordPress.org) with another website host, everything related to your site is saved with your host, not WordPress.com, so you’ll need to get in touch with your host for more assistance with that.

  Thanks much for the response. I will check with the registrar on it. Strange, though – could have sworn I had set the site up at least initially through wordpress.com.
