Domain expired and unable to contact a support person
-
My domain expired in June and I never received notice in my email; now I am unable to renew, but am still listed as the registrant when I do a whois search. How can I contact support to get it back? Unhappy that now I am unable to get any customer service for a long-standing paid upgrade that their own system botched, without paying for a subscription plan.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey parrottml,
If the domain was purchased through WordPress.com and has been expired for longer than a couple of weeks, it can enter into the Redemption Period. Once in redemption, you can still attempt to purchase the domain back, but there will be an $80 redemption fee in addition to the renewal cost. There is also the possibility that the domain name may be lost to auction while in redemption.
If the domain has gone past the Redemption Period, it will be released, and be available to be registered again on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more information on domain expiration, the Redemption Period, and what happens next, please check out this support page here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
I’ll tag this thread with “modlook” so a Happiness Engineer can look into this a little bit further, and hopefully recover your domain.
To help them along, can you give me a link to the domain you’re currently writing in about?

Hello –
Your domain does not look like it has reached the redemption period yet. I’ve reached out to our domain partner asking for them to restore the domain. If the domain goes in to redemption while we wait to hear back you will need to pay the $80 fee to recover it as previously mentioned.
I should hear back in 2-3 days and will post an update for you as soon as I do.

No problem :) I’ve just had a look and there is no reply to my request yet. I’ll keep you updated.

It appears to be up and running, and my account shows it expiring April 2018. Thank you for this- is this a credit from WordPress or do I need to pay somewhere for that portion of time?

Good Morning –
I’ve sent a note your way via email with more information. The domain has been restored and you do not need to pay a redemption fee, just the annual renewal price. There is a link to make this payment in my email.

Please help me with my domain, I am having the same issue, and no one has responded to my emails. staff-zinnia
This is for inexpensivechic.com
I went to my website a few days ago and an error message came up saying the server can’t be found. I called iPage, with whom I am self hosted and they discovered I needed to renew my domain. I was told to call Wild West Domains, and they said its WordPress that I need to be in contact with to renew my domain. I was able to login to my wordpress account, went to manage purchases, and I do not see an option to renew my domain for Inexpensive Chic. In fact it says it “never expires.” I do see purchasing history for the renewal of my other website’s domain, but the last activity for renewing my domain for Inexpensive Chic, was June 2015 (I’ve never had a problem with this in the 6 years that I’ve owned the site).
I also did not receive an email telling me I need to renew. Wild West domains was able to tell me that it did expire August 10. The person I spoke with at iPage said since I am in the redemption period I’d have to pay $99 to have it renewed. I’ve never paid more than $18 to renew, and as aforementioned, I was told by someone else that it’s only been 6 days that it’s been expired.
How can I renew my website when I was never notified that this needed to be done, nor is the option showing up in my manage purchases page? I’d love to be able to access my website again asap. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
