Domain Expired-help!
-
Hi- I am sure WP sent me an email about my domain expiring, but I cannot find it. It may have gone to my spam folder. When I log into my WP account there are no records of my former site (which has since been switched to Squarespace) or my domain. Is there any way that I can get it back? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you’re talking about rhettreevesbentley.com that domain expired in July and is now in the redemption period so the renewal option will no longer show in your dashboard and staff intervention is required to attempt recovery of it. There is also an additional cost which has to be paid to the registrar to do this. See this support doc: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
As you say you have now moved your site another option would be to wait until the redemption period (approx. 80 days from expiration) is over when the domain may become free and available for registration again elsewhere. But there are no guarantees that the domain will be released and not sold on to another company before you can re-register it.
Although the title of your thread is clear enough I have added modlook to the tag box on the right to make sure that staff can give you further advice.

Good morning –
Thank you for sharing that information, themagicrobot. Much appreciated :)
rhett626 – If you’d like to proceed with the redemption process I have to first confirm that you’ll agree to pay the $80 redemption fee. Please let me know ho you’d like to proceed with hettreevesbentley.com.

Hi, Liz! Thanks for checking in. If I redeem my domain name, would it be eligible for transfer to Squarespace? I’m thinking it will just be easier to move the domain, since my content is there. Thanks again for your help!

Good morning –
That’s a great question. There shouldn’t be any issues with transferring the domain once to a new provider we have redeemed it.
These are the steps you’ll follow to do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/
Let me know if you’d like me to proceed with the redemption.

Hello, Liz! Just reviewed the steps you sent over as well as the steps listed by Squarespace. Let’s proceed with the redemption. Let me know what to do next! Thanks.
-
Hi, Liz- the invoice you sent is higher than the $80 redemption fee. Could you please explain why the additional charges? Since I’m immediately moving to Squarespace, I don’t understand the other fees.

Howdy –
Good morning :) I’ve sent a request off to our domain partner regarding the redemption of rhettreevesbentley.com. I’ve also emailed a payment link your way.
Typically we hear back from our domain partner in 2-3 days and we will be in touch with an update as soon as we have more news.
-
The redemption fee is $80 and the annual renewal for the domain is $26. The total is $106.
The redemption fee is assessed by our domain partner and the domain renewal is from us.
-
Thanks, Liz. I’ve paid up- what do I do now? The domain name still isn’t appearing under my account.
-
For now, we just have to wait until we hear back from our domain partner.
As soon as I have an update from them I’ll be in touch. Typically, this only takes 2-3 days.

Hi, Liz- question. When I log into my WordPress account- I cannot find my domain from the backend in order to transfer it to Squarespace. The page says “Loading Sites…” and nothing happens. My entire WordPress profile appears blank. Any advice?
-
Good morning –
Can you capture a screen shot of what you’re seeing? If your internet connection is being flakey that could prevent things from loading up on your screen. Have you run a speed test recently? speedtest.net will do the trick.
1. sign in at https://wordpress.com/
2. click on My Sites in upper left corner.
3. select rhettreevesbentley.wordpress.com
4. on the left side of the screen, select Domains
5. click on rhettreevesbentley.com
6. follow these steps to initiate the transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/ -
