Domain expired message
-
Hi,
When we open our domain http://www.sydneypresbytery.org.au we get a message which says ‘Uh oh! Your blog’s domain sydneypresbytery.org.au expired 29 days ago!’. We have renewed our domain with Melbourne IT, and the nameservers are pointed at wordpress.com, but I’m not sure how to get rid of the message.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
That happens when your site’s domain mapping upgrade here at WordPress.com (the upgrade that links your domain name with your WordPress.com site) has expired. The person who purchased that domain name will need to log in to WordPress.com and go to the My Upgrades page to renew it.
If you have any other questions about that, please let me know. :)

Thanks Rachel.
I’ve followed the link and attempted to upgrade the plan to premium, but I am unable to do so. There seems to be a bug, because when I click on the premium plan on the page https://wordpress.com/plans/sydneypresbytery.org.au, nothing happens except the “sydneypresbytery.org.au” in the URL flashes.

You need to be logged in with the WPcom account that purchased the domain mapping upgrade.
FWIW- you don’t need to upgrade to Premium to renew the domain mapping (unless you want the other features, of course).

Hi there,
Only the WordPress.com user who originally purchased the domain upgrade here at WordPress.com can renew that upgrade. You’ll need to ask the administrator who set up the site and purchased that upgrade to log in to WordPress.com to renew it.
You won’t be able to purchase any upgrades for the site (domains or plans) since you’re an editor on the site, rather than an administrator.

Thanks for your assistance Rachel.
I’m trying to get the administrator login information. The issue for us is that the person who set it up has moved on, so I’m not sure if it will be possible. In the event of this, is there a way to reset the administrator information?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I can’t make any changes to your role (to make you an administrator) without permission from an administrator on the site. However, I’m sending you an email so we can discuss the private details about the site and your account, to help sort this out. Please let me know if you don’t get that email from me. :)

Thanks Rachel. We’ve been able to get access to an administrator account, and have changed my account to administrator status. When I go into the My Domains section, I can see that our current domain mapping will expire on Aug 5. How do we renew the domain mapping?

Thanks for letting me know. :) I just sent you an email with details about how to renew that domain mapping upgrade. You’re welcome to reply directly to that email if you have any questions about it.

Hi all,
I really need help.
I’m having trouble with my domain http://infractusspeculum.com .
It was expired before I renewed it’s subscription for another year through one of the Indonesian site.
After I did the payment, I was still getting this “‘Uh oh! Your blog’s domain infractusspeculum.com expired 110 days ago!’. ” messages. I thought it has something to do with cache or something (I’m not savvy in this kind of things).
So, I decided to cancel my “plans”. I thought it would be safe because I already did make a payment for the whole year.
But in the end, what I get is this “Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.”
I really don’t know what to do next. I just want to transfer my domain to one of the local hosting.
Please advice.
Thank you in advance

Hi Atika,
Your domain infractusspeculum.com was mapped to WordPress.com, and your WordPress.com domain mapping upgrade expired. That’s why you saw that message when you visited your domain name.
Since you canceled the expired domain mapping upgrade, you now receive that message saying that your domain does not have a domain mapping upgrade. That happens because the domain is still pointed to WordPress.com.
You can contact your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain) if you want to use the domain name with a different website host — your registrar can help you point your domain to your new host so you can use it there.

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for your response.
Actually, I initially purchased the domain via WP. Then, I transferred it to local website host, and then transferred it again to another local website host. This only because I want to manage my domain and hosting through one website only, just to be more practical.
So, does that means that the WP is my domain registrar? And if it does, what should I do next? And what will happen to my payment for the domain?
Thank you

Hi Atika,
Sorry for the confusion. Your domain registrar is where your domain is currently registered. (That’s usually the place where you purchased the domain, but since you transferred it, it’s the domain registrar where you transferred the domain to.) You will need to contact that registrar for more assistance managing your domain. :)
