Domain expired too soon!

I manage cayuga-vocal.org. We renewed our subscription in May 2016. We are receiving a message when we try to access this domain that the domain has expired. Admin interface says it expired as of January 17, 2017. Why would the domain have expired early? We need assistance renewing it while the grace period is still in effect. Please contact me directly. PLEASE HELP: Our site has been out of service since January 17 because of this problem and I can find no way from the administrator tools to fix it. Our “Premium” account is paid and our domain is registered for 3 years – why is the domain mapping not working?!?!? Now, because so much time has expired, the site has gone from “needs to be renewed” to “this site does not exist” – PLEASE, we need our site back!!!

Your account does not own any domains on WordPress.com. The mapping upgrade for the domain you mention belonged to the username, ehc57, and the plan on that site belongs to the username heidiwfletcher
I can add the mapping back to heidiwfletcher’s account using the free domain in your plan, but I’ll need both heidiwfletcher and ehc57 to reply here to confirm that I can do that, please.

Thank you for your help – I will ask Heidi Fletcher to respond that it’s okay to add the mapping back, but I’m not sure I can reach ech57 anymore, she’s a former colleague who built the site years ago but is no longer in contact with us anymore. Heidi is the current treasurer of our group and I am the former treasurer, so stewardship of our site and our account is solely up to us. When Heidi logs in, could I ask you to please go ahead and add it back?
Also, can you tell me why the mapping expired? This was completely unexpected and we got locked out so we couldn’t fix it in time. I’d like to avoid this happening again.

Please help us get our site up and running again. We currently have an event coming up that our patrons can not see. Our site has been down since 1/17 and we were fully paid up with both our domain and WordPress. Your assistance is much appreciated.

Also, can you tell me why the mapping expired?
The mapping expired because we did not receive any payment for its renewal. For the domain mapping to be renewed using the free domain in your plan, both the plan and the mapping need to belong to the same account. But in this case the mapping and the plan belong to two different accounts, and the account that owns the mapping upgrade did not renew it.
I have added the mapping back to the heidiwfletcher account and linked it with the plan, so when the plan renews the mapping will renew as well.
You should be aware that ehc57 is the owner of the site, and cannot be removed as a user on the site, so if that person is no longer involved with your organisation you might want to try and get hold of them and ask that they transfer ownership of the site to another admin. We cannot do that at another user’s request.
