Domain Expired two month

My domain ‘streamlinechiropractic.com’ expired two months ago. WordPress had not released my domain after 30 days. Who can I contact to get help in this matter?

  • Hi there,

Please note that 30 days is the minimum period for redemption, but it can vary based on the registrar. It also does not include the two week “grace period” that proceeds the redemption step, or the time it takes from when the domain is out of redemption but is still being prepared for resale, so once your domain expires, it can be unavailable for up to 90 days before it is on sale to the public again: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#domain-released

The link you shared does not clarify this, but I should also mention that during the redemption period the domain is also at a “wholesale auction” where any domain reseller can bid on it. If they purchase the domain during this period it may never go back on sale again.

Even if the domain is released it is common for back-order companies to wait for domains to be released and purchase them the moment they become available. There may also be another individual who likes the domain waiting to buy it.

This means that even if your domain is released, another party can purchase it before you get the chance.

With this in mind would you rather recover the domain instead? This will ensure that you remain the owner, and you will be able to use the domain with any other service or host you wish, you do not have to use it at WordPress.com.

To recover the domain is $18 so if you are interested in this option please let us know and we can send an invoice and start the recovery process. Hope this helps!
