Domain expiring in 3 days, want to move to wordpress.org

    Hi there,

    I’m moving my blog over to wordpress.org. I’ve opened a blue host account and downloaded wordpress.org.

    The problem I have is that my domain, registered at wordpress.com, is expiring in 3 days. Should I renew it here or transfer then renew?

    Also, if I renew on wordpress.com, how do I renew my domain only? I’ve got a premium pkg due to renew that I don’t want to renew because I’m switching over.

    This is part of the email I got, but I can’t click on the renew for the domain only…it doesn’t work.

    Hello! You should be able to transfer the domain to Bluehost right now, even though there’s only 3 days left. While there is a 5 day waiting period on transfers, you can apparently bypass this:

    Once you initiate the transfer process, there is a waiting period of five days. During this period, you will receive an email with a link to confirm or cancel the transfer. To complete the transfer, make sure you confirm it by clicking the confirmation link. Once you confirm, the domain will be automatically transferred after five days.

    You can also bypass the five-day waiting period by going to the My Domains page and clicking Edit once again. From the domain manager, select the Transfer Domain tab, then click Accept Transfer. This will initiate the transfer immediately.

    You should be able to transfer the domain to Bluehost using the instructions provided by @lastnode. They’re listed here for reference:

    Can you give those steps a try? That way, you can renew the domain at Bluehost once you transfer it.
