Domain expiry

We are concerned that @pceps account (our school website) has reverted back to an old format because we did not renew our domain. The previous account holder has left the school and our IT support had updated the contact details. It seems we did not receive notification when our payment method (credit card) did not work.
We obviously wish to retain our previous website and we are happy to pay the £240 business charge. We have updated our credit card details.
We are concerned that if we simply upgrade now, our most recent version is lost and we will be left with the current very dated one – I fear it will be hours of work to recover. Can you confirm that if we upgrade, our website (as it was 2 days ago) will reappear? Many Thanks for your support.

  • Hi there,

No content on your site will be lost by upgrading, and it looks like you’ve already gone ahead and bought a new plan and reconnected the domain.

That wouldn’t have automatically restored your site to the state it was before the previous plan expired, but you should be able to restore a past backup of the site to get it back to how it looked a few days ago.

If you need any help with that, you should now also be able to access live chat support again at https://wordpress.com/help/contact. Start a new chat session there, and someone will be able to walk you though the backup restore process and get your site back to how it should be.
