  I upgraded to the personal plan, hoping that it would include plug-in support. When I realised that it didn’t, I cancelled the plan and along with it, the domain name that came with the plan. I want to know how long does it take for the domain name to become available again? I’m not even getting an option to purchase it again though wordpress.com, and instead have to post here.

  Hi there,

  Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all.

  In this specific case, your domain should be released at the end of this week, at which point you can register it again, here or elsewhere. Alternatively we can also still restore the domain to your WordPress.com account for the next three days, but to use it with your WordPress.com site you’ll need a paid plan.

  Or if you want to use it somewhere else, we can send you a link to pay for the domain only, and then help you point it to where you want to use it. You’ll then be able to transfer the domain away from us once you’ve owned it for at least 60 days.

  Let us know which option you prefer, and we can take it from there.

  I would like this domain to be released, please. I’ll be more careful about cancelled domains in the future!
