domain expiry dashboard notice

    @Staff, not Volunteers

    Below is a copy paste of the dashboard notice on my site.

    Your subscription to howardhoule.com has expired or is about to expire. Hide for 7 days

    I clicked the Help and nearly went cross-eyed viewing the slew links, rather than a comment box with the ability to just type what I needed help with. That is why I am posting here.

    My site is on the personal plan. Set to auto-renew on the personal plan October 4, 2018.

    My domain is 333 days old
    Created on 2017-11-03
    Expires on 2018-11-03
    Updated on 2017-11-03

    You have my credit card information required to renew. Why is this notice on my dashboard? Please contact me by email.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    WordPress.com may have your credit card information but please double-check to make sure it is set to auto-renew on Oct. 4th and that your card information is up-to-date:

    How can I turn on automatic renewal?

    Automatic renewal is enabled on all upgrades with up-to-date payment information. You can confirm whether automatic renewal is enabled for your plan via Purchases. Click the upgrade you wish to check to view renewal details. If the upgrade is set to expire then click on the Renew button and follow the screen prompts.

    I will tag this post for Staff to view. For future support, you have access to e-mail support here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Please understand that the support staff is at their yearly Grand Meetup this week so a reply may be delayed somewhat, but they will see this.

  • Good morning –

    I’m happy to try and sort this out. After looking at the account I can see that your domain and plan will not expire until 2018-11-03.

    It is normal that these automatic renewals process about 1 month ahead of the actual expiration. This way, if there’s an issue, we have time to notify folks before their domain gets cancelled.

    We can’t actually see any credit card information for any users as a security measure for y’all. Based on the timeline it seems that the automatic renewal should process today or by the end of the week. If that does not happen, come back and let us know, we will help you with a manual renewal.

    It’s also possible that the card on file denied the renewal. That can happen for a number of reasons and the only way to know for sure would be to contact your financial party to inquire about that.

    Write back to me here if you have any other questions.

    @slodaniel

    This is a longtime forum Volunteer speaking to you. I am logged in under another person’s account and do not wish to reveal my other username.

    The account was set up by me I have full access to any and all information on the site. I maintain the site. The personal upgrade was done by me. The upgrade was set to auto-renew. The grand meetup is something I already know about and it’s also posted on the dashboard.

    I deliberately placed a modlook tag on this thread and started it with @staff, not Volunteers and yet you still entered the thread. Please do not do that in the future.

    The upgrade was set up to auto-renew and the credit card information was correct. I manually clicked through to renew the plan and as I was successful I received a message saying that and also saying the site was now set up to auto-renew. It took some time for the original dashboard notice to disappear after I renewed.

    Thanks for your attention to this issue which is now resolved.

  • howardhoule – Thanks for letting me know that you are all sorted! Best wishes!
