Domain for Personal Account

I am working with someone on creating a very simple website. They would like to create a personal account, which says that they get a free domain name with the purchase. However, when we get to the area that has us put in a domain name, it says that you have to have a premium account for a domain name. I have a screenshot of the Plans page on WordPress.com that says differently—only the free account has a subdomain. I can’t seem to find a way to quickly contact real people on the support page, so I’m hopeful that this will help my answer my question.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello @mikara08,

Purchasing the Personal plan credits that account with one single-use token to implement a custom domain.

    Hope that helps!

So when I’m signing up for the account I need to select the free sub-domain, and then switch later on?

Yes – even when using a custom domain (for example, mikara08.com), your site will still have that base URL (for example, mikara08.wordpress.com). It is just hidden from visitors once you map your purchased domain.
