Domain forfeited but I didn’t approve that
-
Yesterday, I realized the plan I had purchased did not have the upgrades I thought it did… when I went to cancel, I apparently forfeitted my domain and any access to it for the length of the registration. I have no idea how long that is and the support representative did not inform me of these terms as I canceled my plan. I only learned about the following once it had all been done! ‘As a reminder, once a domain is deleted, you no longer own it and forfeit any remaining time left in the original registration term. Once the deletion is processed by the registry, it can become more costly, or in some cases, not possible, to recover the domain.’
A ‘reminder’ means that I was told these upon canceling, but I was not. Surely there is a record of this chat somewhere that can be referenced. How can I reinstate my domain?

Hi, luckily there’s a waiting period of sorts to figure this kind of thing out.
In your case the domain will be released 5 days after your cancellation, because the domain was so new. You can choose to wait, or we can create an invoice for you so we can restore the domain now.
If you re-buy the domain here, you could still point it to another host, but would need to wait 60 days to transfer the registration to them.
Given that, what would you like to do? Let us know if you’d like an invoice ($18) or whether you want to wait it out.

Ideally, I’d like to repurchase it with GoDaddy since that’s where I have all of the other domain names that I own all in one place… but the email I got from your team said that it may still not be available even when it has been processed by the registry.

It will be released from us in 5 days, after that we don’t have much control as to when it re-enters the public market and when other registrars consider it available.
