Domain forwarding

  I have two domains forwarding from godaddy to my wordpress blog, and they’ve been forwarded for over three months with no trouble. I’ve recently edited the forwarding address having added a page, and the forwarding is no longer working. I’ve contacted godaddy who say there’s nothing wrong with the forwarding. I had a look through the wordpress support pages to find that apparently using your own domain is a paid upgrade. Is this a recent thing? And if not how come its only come to light now after all this time?
