Domain forwarding and how to continue using WordPress

  I recently purchased a .com for my wordpress blog through cheapdomains.com.au. I only purchased the .com option which was $15AUD. I would like to make my wordpress blog use the purchased domain name. I contacted their customer support and they suggest upgrading to the ‘Premium DNS’ and using the forwarding option there, however I am not entirely convinced this is the right option because they ended their email with ‘let us know if this works’. They want to charge $55 to upgrade to Premium DNS so I don’t want to do this if it doesn’t work.
  Furthermore, if this did work, I can’t seem to find a plugin or cPanel option to access WordPress from within their site, so would I still login to wordpress.com and post my blog as per usual and it would push an update on the domain I purchased?
  Alternately I saw an option within WordPress to redirect a domain to your own personal one for $13, which is once again fine however I still don’t seem to understand which option is the correct one in terms of forwarding…do I forward from wordpress to my domain or from my domain to wordpress and how do I continue to post if the domain provider doesn’t have a plugin or other option?
  Another alternative exists in that I can, after 60 days, transfer the domain to another provider. Whilst I know goDaddy doesn’t really have a fabulous rep, they are cheap and they do offer cheaper hosting options with wordpress cPanel/plugin access from their site.
  I think this last option is the best, and being that my blog is ultra new (only 2 posts so far and I only plan on doing weekly postings for now), I think if I were to do this it wouldn’t be too much of a drama as there won’t be a large amount of data to be transferred.
  Any advice or assistance is appreciated as I am relatively new to blogging and got super excited when I saw the .com for my blog name hadn’t been taken yet (although potentially a hasty decision as now I don’t really know how to use it!).
