Domain > Add a domain > Function > Put blog here – huh?

I just domain mapped my blog (surviveanukeattack.com). I think I properly “added a domain” but I’m confused by the “Put blog here” link in the Function column. I see that it flipped the location, but what does that mean and how should I set it?

Both your old and new domains are listed on that page. One of them says “Your blog URL”. That’s the active domain used in links, and that readers will see. The other one will redirect to the active domain.
Most likely you want people to see “surviveanukeattack.com”. If it doesn’t say “Your blog URL”, click on the Put blog here link to make it your active domain.

The “Put blog here” link seems redundant. Doesn’t one domain map precisely to stop using the old WP.com domain? Perhaps I think too much. Thanks for the reply.

It’s a bit confusing. You can have more than one mapped domain. You use the “Put blog here” link to choose which one is the final destination.

Confusing? Naah, say it ain’t true. Thanks, I’m sure it’ll make more sense the more I get into it.
