    Hello,
I have been having problems with my domain.
Here is the deal. I have purchased a DOMAIN and HOSTING with GoDaddy
Then built my site on wordpress (svdpstclare.wordpress.com)
How do I get to my site with my regular domain name and not the wordprss subdomain when godaddy is hosting? (I have the free package on wordpress)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The free package is for use only with .wordpress subdomain. You cannot take the files out.

If you want to develop a site without the wordpress subdomain, buy one of the other packages. You can see it here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Hope this can help you.

  • Hi there,

If you want to use your domain with your WordPress.com site you’ll need to buy a paid plan via My Site ->Plans, which will allow you to map the domain to us via the domain mapping upgrade:

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

Note that if you do this, we will be hosting your site so you don’t need to pay GoDaddy for hosting as well. You’ll only need to pay them for the actual domain.

You only need to pay GoDaddy for hosting if you install the open source WordPress software on their servers, in which case you’ll have a self-hosted WordPress site and not a WordPress.com site. You can read a bit about the differences between the two here:
