I have taken my website domain, hurst.digital, and changed the name serves to point to wordpress. Is the next step going into the settings and updating the domain name there, or will that break everything? I have had so many issues getting this to work. The site I am changing is digi-matics.com, which I built everything on. I hope I have not confused you.

Your website digi-matics.com is hosted using WordPress.ORG software on your hosting provider’s server.
This is WordPress.COM support forum, answering questions related to sites hosted on WordPress.COM, which is different from WordPress.ORG.To understand the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Search shows, your Hosting service provider for digi-matics.com is Lunar Pages, the nameservers for that would be: ns7.lunarpages.com, ns6.lunarpages.com
You need to change the NameServer for hurst.digital to reflect same as digi-matics.com records.
You will have to take some action in your Lunar Pages account as well to make your redirection work.
You can check the records by running whois query online.
