Domain help

I posted about my deleted domain earlier in this thread. I deleted it and wanted it back because I made a mistake, I want wanting to change the hosting plan, not the site.
I came back later, and I thought it was restored, because I had the domain back on the “My Sites” area. I couldn’t see it when I went to Upgrades, then Domains.
I read on another thread you had to again pay for the new domain, (makes sense I’m the one who messed up) and so I did that. I then bought it, and it got rid of the domain I had, and replaced it with my username default one, and when I try to claim my old domain, it says it’s taken. (I assume by my past self).
What do I do? Did I pay for something I shouldn’t have?
