  I want to transfer a new domain – do I still need to host it with Bluehost or does WordPress do all of it? If my domain is brand new, do I need to wait 60 days until I can have my website?

  Correct account: Yes

  Hey there, wordpress.com does all of it. You can host here even if your domain is elsewhere and there is no wait time for it. The 60 days waiting time is only for transfering the domain.

  Also to clarify, the domain needs to have stayed at the registrar for alteast 60 days in order to transfer it to another registrar.

  It seems like I have to transfer my domain, since it’s a “.coop” so I will have to wait 60 days – even though I need the site this week… is there any way around this? Do I have to make a different domain temporarily?

  Unfortunately .coop can’t be transferred here. All the domains extensions that can be registered are available at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

  This does not mean that you wont be able to host your website here at wordpress.com You can have the domain in another registrar and point their nameservers here. The guide can be found at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  Also, you are able to use the domain since day 1! There wont be any problems regarding that. The 60days wait just means it needs to stay at the current registrar for alteast 60 days. You will still be able to use the domain as you like. I hope this helped!

  Okay, thank you for the clarification. So I will need something to host it, like Bluehost?

  Wordpress only gives me the option to Transfer this domain, not Connect it. So i’m unclear how I can still link the .coop domain I have.

  You’ll be able to connect that domain to a WordPress.com site by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  When I get to Step 3. the page where I am supposed to Transfer my domain, or Connect my domain, only the option to Transfer is allowed — but since I have a .coop domain, didn’t you say I can’t have that transferred and it should just be able to be Connected?

  You should be able to connect your domain by going to Upgrades → Domains. Here’s where to look:
