Domain Help
-
As I lost my domain the other night and was able to repurchase the domain last night from godaddy, I would like to know what you folks think. Should I continue to host the domain here on wordpress and change the name servers on my godaddy account, or should go for it and host it on godaddy.
– If so how will I get all my content over to godaddy?
– Being that I paid for domain mapping on wordpress, can I just change the name servers on my godaddy account and keep it hosted here, or will I need to pay wordpress to do that.
Any help would be appreciated.
thx,

Let’s be clear: domain hosting and domain mapping are two different things. Here at wordpress.COM, domain mapping costs $10; domain mapping + domain hosting costs $15.
If you bought the domain from GoDaddy, that is your domain host. WordPress.COM is hosting your blog, not your domain.
If you want your domain mapped to your wordpress.com blog, you change the nameservers at GoDaddy. (And if you have already paid for domain mapping, there is no additional money to be paid.)
If you want to have GoDaddy as your blog host, you will need to download and install the wordpress software, export your data from here and import it into your blog over there.
As for installing wordpress versus using the software here, take a look at this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

Of course it sounds right – I have my domain hosted at GoDaddy and my blog hosted here :) That’s why I’m so familiar with the process :)
