I currently have a domain hosted on GoDaddy. I want to change this so that it is hosted in my WordPress Preimum account. Do I need to cancel my hosting with GoDaddy and then register the domain with WordPress? Os is there a way to transfer hosting (not just map the domain I do not want it on GoDaddy at all).

Unfortunately, you can’t transfer hosting to WordPress easily.
Here is what a WordPress Happiness Engineer (staff) said in a previous thread asking the same question:
The only way to do this would be to let your domain expire or cancel it with the current registrar and then re-register it with us. This is not ideal and I do not recommend this route because you are potentially forfeiting ownership of the domain if someone else were to register it before you got to it.
There is not a set time or notifications that come from the registrar for this situation. The only option is to try and register it daily from WordPress.com. Domain mapping would be the safer option.

I know it is not ideal but it sounds like that is what I will have to do.
Should I pay for and set up my premium plan before I cancel my domain on GoDaddy so that I can quickly register it on WordPress?
