Domain hostage

    How do I recover my domain? It says unavailable for purchase, so WordPress just like holds your domain hostage for like a year or what and you have to pay the $80 to get it back? I had to close my salon because my business had to close and now I finally save up enough to actually be able to pay the fees and I can’t? Can someone help me please?

    I see that this domain expired and was removed from our end. As of now, the domain is no longer registered with us, and we are unable to restore it for you.

    A domain goes through several stages after it expires. You can learn more about what happens when a domain expires here. In this particular case, your domain was removed from our end after the expiry auction. You can see the information about the domain’s current owner in this WHOIS result. It’s currently registered with GoDaddy.

    You can try contacting the current owner to see if they’d be willing to sell the domain. If not, your only option would be to register a different domain. You can choose a different TLD (A different extension instead of .com at the end) to keep the same name in the main domain.

    You previously had the WordPress.com Personal plan on your site. If you want to upgrade to the same plan, you can do so here. After upgrading, you can follow the steps here to register a new domain.

    I understand having to change the domain isn’t ideal, but domains are tricky in general. When they expire, they can quickly get to a stage where it’s no longer in our control to recover. We always recommend keeping a domain active instead of canceling it or letting it expire if you plan to use it in the future. I noticed we mentioned this to you via email back in December. Since the domain expired and was removed from our end, it’s no longer possible for us to restore it for you.

    Hi I’m trying to buy erinreyehair.com and I have to pay the 80 bucks I guess to get it but can’t see how

    When we told you this (December 2022), that was the case as it was still within the Redemption Period, where we could still recover your domain for that $80 redemption fee.

    Since we’re now in February 2023, we’re outside the Redemption Period, and we have no access to nor the ability to recover the domain, especially since it has been purchased by someone else.
