Domain & Hosting
-
Hello, I’m ready to buy your plan. The only question I have is this:
I understand the domain name will be a .com
I’m curious where the site will actually be hosted – I wondered whether because my current country is Italy, then it would automatically default to Italy.
I’m a US citizen living in Italy (as a US citizen I can legally have a .com) but ideally I would like the site to be hosted in the US. The reason for this is that I’m trying to appeal to Americans and I suspect that having the site hosted in the US helps with page hits. I could be wrong about that so please correct me if that is the case.
Thanks,

Hi there – Where a site is hosted (where it physically lives on servers in the world) can be different from a domain’s country code TLD (.co.uk, .it, .fr, etc.), and that’s ok!
For example, WordPress.com offers the ability to purchase .fr and .co.uk domains for your site(s). We do not offer .it domains at this time, but it sounds like that is not your immediate goal anyway.
.com is generally the way to go for US-based viewers, so feel free to grab that .com domain when you are ready. :)
If you run into any other questions about the domain, let us know. We’ll be happy to help.
