domain in redemption
-
I am not certain what has happened, but my domain appears to have been taken over by someone else. I had not intention of forfeiting the domain and did not receive any notice that there was potential for this to happen. I have emailed support, but have not received a response. I would be grateful for any response I might receive through this venue.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please provide the URL for the .wordpress.com subdomain blog that you are domain mapping from.

Thank you. This link http://deeplycommitted.wordpress.com redirects to http://www.deeplycommitted.wordpress.com and there is no “www’ in any URLs here at all. All “www” URLs are redirected to the domain without the “www” automatically. In fact that blog does not display an Admin bar that free hosted WordPress.com bloggers are not allowed to remove from their blogs. It also does not display footer credits and WordPress.com bloggers are likewise not allowed to remove footer credits from their free hosted WordPress.com blogs. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

RATS! I made an error above. I meant to type this:
“This link http://deeplycommitted.wordpress.com redirects to http://www.deeplycommitted.com …” -
I notice that deeplycommitted.wordpress.com is no longer redirecting to deeplycommitted.com and that the .wordpress.com site now has my blog content back up and running. However, I am still very concerned about how someone else is posting at deeplycommitted.com. I did not intend to vacate that site. I also paid wordpress the fees I thought would continue to keep the blog at deeplycommitted.com
-
Actually, I guess I was wrong. I’m not sure how I got deeplycommitted.wordpress.com to load, but I just typed it in my browser and it did redirect to deeplycommitted.com, which, again is not my content.
Thank you for your continued help!

If you can access and enter the site and I suggest that change your password to one that cannot possibly be guessed > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password

I’m not sure I understand how that is related to my concern. I am saying that deeplycommitted.wordpress.com has my blog content and deeplycommitted.com appears to have somehow been taken over by someone else. I.e., they are now two different sites. But I thought I had control over deeplycommitted.com.
I think I missed renewing the domain, but understood it was in redemption, and that I still had the chance to redeem it, but have not been able to get a response.

I’m sorry. I was off-base. I have flagged this thread for Staff intervention and that’s all I can do. Please be patient while waiting for Staff to work their way through the support ticket and get to yours and reply to it. They respond to those with the earliest dates first so don’t keep sending emails as doing so will only increase your waiting time.
Upgrades for domain mapping are annually renewable and we do get plenty of warning. A warning is posted on our dashboards about 2 month prior to the renewal date. Another one appears 30 days prior to the renewal date. Google prefers domains that are not going to expire quickly, so I just renew when I get the 60 day notice. There is no guarantee you will be able to secure the domain name again. Once a Domain registration expires it goes into Redemption and will cost more than normal to renew. In some cases, it’s possible to pay an additional $80 fee to the registrar to recover the domain from redemption. That fee is in addition to the normal renewal fee.

do you know if I have any hope of even redeeming it if someone else is currently posting there?
Thanks again for your response.

Hi macmanx,
I have tried to contact support on multiple occasions, and at timethief’s suggestion that I stop and just wait – I have done so. I emailed support with this issue on Saturday… and when I first tried to redeem the domain, it was still available. How much longer should I expect to continue to wait? I am quite frustrated at the lack of response, while someone else’s content is on the domain that is broadly associated with my name.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Kevin

It looks like you only sent us one email two days ago.
I have replied with further details.

Thanks for the response,
If I reply to the email I received, will you get it? I have further questions.
Thanks.

Your email reply should go straight to staff-blorbo based on my past experience when I contacted the staff.
