Domain is in the ether
-
To link a domain. However, it says it is currently link to another WordPress blog. If I was sleep ‘computing’ while this occurred, this would explain a lot. Otherwise, how do I find where that domain went to?
Thanks. -

Ok, just to make sure I’m understanding properly: you’re trying to map the domain thingsofthe.world to your site at WordPress.com ( castleno9.wordpress.com ?), but it’s telling you it is already mapped to another site? Do you have another site at WordPress.com in addition to castleno9.wordpress.com ?
If you mean that you already mapped it to your WordPress.com site but the problem is that it doesn’t actually take you to the site, that’s because you need to update your nameservers: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/#2-ask-your-domain-provider-to-update-your-dns-settings

I think I have another site at WordPress.com but for the life of me can’t find where it went. Sounds crazy, I know.
I have a receipt for http://thingsofthe.wordpress.com and actually, just want to return it so I can move on to another domain.Thanks.

I’m going to add “modlook” to this page’s tags (in the right column) to bring it to WordPress.com staff attention. Maybe they can help you figure out what your other site/account is, so you can get the domain mapping straightened out.

Hi there,
Your domain is mapped to the WordPress.com site you mention here, http://thingsofthe.wordpress.com, but that site and the domain mapping upgrade belongs to a different username account.
If that site is yours, you’ll need to log in as the correct account to access it and cancel that upgrade. If you don’t remember the username and password, try entering the email address at which you got that receipt into the password reset form to reset the password for that account (log out of this account first)
