Domain is not mapping – just redirecting?
-
Hi all,
So I’ve recently setup a blog, carey2.wordpress.com and then I brought the custom domain option. I have already registered a domain with Yahoo, so I just set the nameservers to point to the wordpress ones. If you look it up (okaycarey.com) on whois.net, the nameservers are set correctly.
If I browse to okaycarey.com, I just get redirected to carey2.wordpress.com which is not what I want. Correct me if I’m wrong, but domain mapping should change my blog URL not redirect to the old one right?
How can I fix this? (Or do I need to wait longer? I would think no since it’s redirecting already)

Have you purchased the upgrade from WordPress.com? The URL won’t change until that’s done, and if you have, it can take a day or so for things to settle down and everything will align properly then.

ok hang on. I just clicked on (put domain here) next to the domain under the upgrades tab, and it’s worked. Only problem is that my ISP has not yet let the domain propagate so it doesn’t have the updated servers – I effectively locked myself out of my blog for the next 24 hours… ha ha
Using a proxy server works though, and correct me if I’m wrong but it seems to be working.
thanks anyway
