domain is parked, can’t access

  My domain expired and now it is parked and I can’t access my site ‘tessadeanauthor.wordpress.com’

  WP.com: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  I can see https://tessadeanauthor.com is showing parked.
  I have flagged this for staff attention.

  I can see another site tessadeanauthor.wordpress.com is up and running.
  Would you please let us know what is the issue you are having with this website?

  Hi,

  I let my domain (tessadeanauthor.com) expire on purpose and expected it to automatically go back to the free address, but when I put that in as the URL it automatically takes me to the site is parked and not let me access my free site. My others automatically went back to the free site when the domains expired, but this one didn’t.

  Please help as I can’t access my site at all.

  Hello Tessa,
  Once the domain expired, then any links to the domain will stop working. Moreover, it will eventually become available for someone else to register. It will not redirect to your free site automatically. If someone else register that domain they will able to point that to their website.

  Was it only recently that your domain expired?

  Since you say you let your domain expire on purpose, have you tried setting your free WordPress.com address as the primary address in Domains? https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/#use-a-free-site-address

  I type in tessadeanauthor.wordpress.com and hit enter and it goes to tessadeanauthor.com which is parked. I don’t understand why it goes to a parked domain that already expired on me. I must have done something to the settings because this did not happen with my other two blogs. I have two others:
  finallyawriter.wordpress.com
  tessacandoit.wordpress.com

  When I tried Jennifer’s suggestion it was already saying tessadeanauthor.wordpress.com and said if I changed it I would lose access to the free site.

  I am very confused.

  Yes the domain expired on the 8th and the 10th it still showed as the domain.

  I am not sure what happened, but the blog URL for the free site is now going to the correct blog and no more parked domain.

  You’re welcome. It sounds like it was a caching issue because when I clicked on your site link in your original post, I was taken to your .wordpress.com address. But regardless, I’m glad to hear that it’s resolved itself.
