Domain isn’t mapping
-
HI
I bought a domain name at Godaddy.com for my site at WordPress.com. I changed the nameservers to the three WP nameservers. Five days later and the domain name isn’t showing up – instead I get a message from WP saying ‘that hostname cannot be added to this blog’. Anyone have any suggestions as to why? Godaddy says everything is fine at their end.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please purchase a domain mapping upgrade, read more about it at: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Hi – yes I know I need to purchase an upgrade, but I can’t go through to do that until WP has accepted my domain name and displayed the ‘add domain to blog’ button. Unless I’m missing something?

So – to clarify – when I enter my domain name and then I click ‘add domain to blog’, it comes up with ‘that hostname cannot be added to this blog’.

I would do two things:
1) Double-check that you have the correct nameservers set up. If you brows to your domain URL you should not see the Godaddy holding page (I guess you will see the WordPress.com home page if the nameservers are set but the domain unmapped.
2) If the nameservers check out OK then constact wordpress support at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

No, you’ve got it backwards. When you say:
I can’t go through to do that until WP has accepted my domain name and displayed the ‘add domain to blog’ button. Unless I’m missing something?
You actually have to purchase the upgrade before you get that option.
