Hi there, my domain fitandwellblog.com isn’t working and there seems to be a problem with the domain…not sure what’s happening but this is the message I get when I google my blog or try to find the log into the admin page: fitandwellblog.com’s server DNS address could not be found.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I purchased the domain fitandwellblog.com about a year ago, and i think i forgot to renew it. I thought i paid to renew it today but that didn’t work and when I go to the “register domain” page for fitandwellblog.com it says “domains are not available for this site. You can only purchase domains for sites hosted on wordpress.com”
I have a different hosting company hosting fitandwellblog.com…so i’m confused…

You bought a JetPack Premium plan which doesn’t assist you in registering your domain. I have refunded you for that purchase. Are you wanting to register the domain with WordPress.com or do you want to register it at another host and map it to WordPress.com?

How much does it cost to register it with WordPress?
If I register with WordPress or Google, Site Ground still host the domain right?

It would cost $26 to register the domain with WordPress ($18 without private registration).

If you register it with WordPress.com, it would be hosted with WordPress.com via Wild West Domains. If you register the domain through Google, it will be hosted by them. If the domain is currently unregistered, it is not with Siteground, so it can be registered with any host of your choosing.

SiteGround is currently my host provider so if I register and host through google or wordpress would I lose all my content?

Also, fitandwellblog has been registered, I bought it last year. the people at site ground told me that my ownership expired and now it is in the “redemptive phase” where I won’t be able to buy it back until two weeks? Why can’t I just pay to have it reregistered?

No, most definitely not. Is your site hosted at Siteground as well, or are you wanting to use the domain with the site you have hosted with us here at WordPress.com?

I’m not sure about Siteground’s redempton process, but with ours, we can retrieve the domain out of redemption for you many of the times, you’d just have to pay a $80 fee for us to do so. I’d talk to Siteground and ask them why. Maybe they are wanting you to wait until the domain is out of redemption so you don’t have to pay the fee? That’s risky since someone else could register it. Talk to them for clarification.
