Domain issues

Having major issues with my domain.
I got a BlueHost account to host my custom theme. I changed the nameservers to BlueHost’s nameservers. This was yesterday, mid-morning.
For the website, nothing ever happened. The nameserver change did not appear to propagate. More than 24 hours later, it was still loading my WordPress.com site. This was really bizarre, because a WHOIS search shoed BlueHost’s nameservers, not WordPress.com’s.
However, my email (which is manually set up with Google Apps for Work), stopped working almost immediately yesterday after I initially changed the nameservers.
After more than 24 hours, and the website was still loading the WordPress.com site, I decided to switch it back, figure out a few things, and then try again. I turned off the custom nameservers…
And THAT is when my domain stopped working. An hour later, it’s loading my BlueHost WordPress install! Now, again this is really bizarre, because the WHOIS search shows WordPress.com’s nameservers, not BlueHost’s. How is this possible?
Unfortunately, unlike yesterday, my email did not switch back immediately.
So now, the nameservers are set to WordPress.com’s own nameservers, but (a) the website appears to be loading the WordPress install over at BlueHost, and (b) my email is not working.
Can someone PLEASE help me fix this?

Hi,
Before you switch the domain’s name servers, please be sure to add the following MX records to your Bluehost account to ensure that email service continues:
MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
MX 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
MX 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
MX 10 ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
MX 10 ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.Also, unless you purchase an SSL certificate from Bluehost, you may not be able to view the site for about 24 hours after changing the name servers.
All WordPress.com sites have SSL certificates and by default Bluehost sites do not, so your web browser will be looking for a certificate for the first 24 hours after the change is made.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
