domain issues

    Hi,

I had a domain (contangox.com) run off Google servers and I linked it to WordPress by adding in the custom WordPress servers (ns1.wordpress.com). Since then, I have removed the domain from WordPress and switched it back to Google servers, but I keep getting an error saying the domain is not an active connection and then it tells me to log in to WordPress. I would have thought by removing the domain from WordPress and switching the server settings back to Google would have fixed this, but it hasn’t. Anymore, information would be amazing. I have removed the site but am still getting the error.

I think what is happening is when I try and enter the site https://www.contangox.com it redirects me to https://contangox.com instead which does not exist anymore.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you have trouble with your website. However, your site is no longer hosted with WordPress.com. It is now a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Google.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

https://wordpress.org/support/ is an excellent resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
