If I move my blog across to a personal domain through WordPress then, sometime later, am unable to pay the annual subscription, will my past postings be lost forever?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you fail to renew a domain mapping upgrade then all the domain URLs will be broken. The content in the blog will still be there BUT when the domain broken URLs will still be in search engine results for 3 – 6 months until Google clears their caches and that means every one that is clicked will produce a “404” (page not found).
As the domain URLs will be broken the search engines will have to re-index the content under the original .wordpress.com URLs. For about 3 – 6 months time both the broken URLs and the original ones following re-indexing will appear simultaneously.
It’s also important to take note that when does not renew a domain name there is no guarantee that one can and will be able to purchase it back again later on. It may go up for auction. It may be held and made unavailable for purchase. A domain name squatter may acquire it and set a very high price for purchasing it back from them.
Bottom line: Allowing a domain name and domain mapping upgrade to expire is NOT recommended.
