Domain lock, want to transfer to BlueHost

    Hello,
    Hello!

    I began my site here on WordPress and committed to a custom domain name. Realising the extra features of WordPress.org, I decided to move my site onto BlueHost, and registered there with the same domain now. Then I canceled the original domain here and now it’s locked. I called their tech support and the EPP code is required to initiate the transfer.
    What is the current status of the transfer? Do I just have to wait or is some action required? Can the domain be ‘uncancelled’ and remapped to BlueHost?
    Will appreciate any help to clear up the confusion.

    Hi there,
    It sounds like you have cancelled your domain here. It was not possible to get the same domain there, and the domain was not eligible to transfer yet. Let’s tag this with modlook for a staff member to restore the domain so you can use it now. I expect the domain is thekyotolens.com?

    Hi there,

    I can still restore your domain for you. However, you won’t be able to transfer it until you’ve owned it for at least 60 days – all new domains at all domain providers are subject to a 60 day transfer lock and there is no way to lift that earlier. So for now the domain will need to remain registered with us but we can help you point it to Bluehost in the meantime if you want to use it there.

    But there is another option. As you cancelled your domain on the same day you registered it, it will be released within a few days and should be available for registration again by the weekend. Then you can register it directly with Bluehost as a new domain.

    Please let me know which option you would prefer.

    Thank you kindly for your advice!
    I would definitely prefer the second option as the domain is already registered with Bluehost. On my control panel over there, it says “Transfer lock: locked”. I suppose that after the domain is released here on WP, I will be able to just press transfer over there…? Sorry I am new to this.

    No. Once the domain is released by us it will no longer be registered at all, so you won’t transfer it to Bluehost. You’ll register it as a new domain directly with them.

    Thank you for your patience in helping a clueless bloke.
    I will take the first option then: get the domain restored and point it to Bluehost. I will transfer it manually after the 60 day lock.

    Okay. I’ve restored the domain and it’s active in your account again.

    Please ask Bluehost support for the name servers for your site. Once you have that, you can add them here:

    https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/thekyotolens.com/name-servers/thekyotolens.wordpress.com

    It will take a few hours after adding them for the name servers to update – in extreme cases up to 72 hours – but once that process completes the domain will show your Bluehost site.
