domain mapped but registration expired

    My domain registration expired with previous registrar. When I try to register it with WP, I’m told it is already mapped, which it is. It’s just not registered anywhere anymore.

    Hi Jean,

    My advice would be to renew your domain with the existing registrar. While we don’t accept incoming domain transfers, it can take a very long time for a canceled/expired domain to return to the market for purchase. To give you an idea, here’s our timeline of what happens when a domain expires: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

    The short version is it can take 90 days after expiration for the domain to be available for purchase again.
